SANDTON CPF YOUTH DESK

The Sandton CPF Youth Desk is an outreach programme that relies on volunteers aged 18-35 to help address social issues that are related to or cause crime. It has taken the efforts, determination and perseverence of many individuals to get this initiative off the ground. The Youth Desk was officially launched on 16 June 2019.

The current committee comprises Lagan Govender (chairperson); Mohammed Ziyaad Khan (deputy chair); Karabo Mosoeunyane (secretary); Ri...zwan Adam (deputy secretary); Leila Mohamed (treasurer); Farah Kaskar (public relations officer); and additional members Ilham Habib, Imaan Habib, Saif Aziz, Akhter Seedat and Gcina Dzingwe. The Youth Desk is a SAPS/Community partnership and Sandton SAPS Warrant Officer Cynthia Segoa (Social Crime Prevention Coordinator) works closely with the committee to develop a programme of activities and events, which includes, for example, arranging talks at schools about drug and alcohol abuse.

The Sandton CPFs recent Women's Day event, held on 10 August 2019, saw a multitude of speakers presenting on a variety of topics, such as Safety Advice (W/O Segoa); Women's Healthcare (Candice Chirwa from Qrate); Self-Reliance (Nande Notshe); and Human Rights (Human Rights Commissioner Angie Makwetla). The attendees enjoyed a most informative, well-organised and fun event. Watch the press and social media for future events and please contact the Sandton CPF on 011 722 4317 if you would like to get involved.
